So anybody that knows me knows I ❤️ going to get ☕️There is just something about going and treating myself that I really enjoy-it’s a form of self care for me. 💆🏻♀️ But on that note, it’s a very expensive form of self care 😂 if you go frequently and your drink is over $5!
I have become obsessed with @starbucks iced brown sugar oatmilk shaken espresso. It’s dairy free, a little sweet (I order it with less syrup), and the perfect pick me up! However, its pricey ($5.45 for a grande) and has 13g of sugar in it so I wanted to see if I could come up with a lighter at home version and cut my Starbucks trips back to maybe a few times a week instead of...well, never mind, you get the idea. 😂
Here’s what you’ll need for the recipe:
🔹 instant coffee, instant espresso, or very strong brewed coffee or coffee concentrate. (I used instant coffee)
🔹 Creamy oatmilk (I used @chobani brand)
🔹 @swervesweetie brown sugar
🔹 Cinnamon
🔹 Ice
🔹 Mason jar or shaker
DIRECTIONS:
✅ First you will need to make a simple syrup with the brown sugar. I chose to use swerve brown sugar because it’s zero calorie and is made with erythritol-it was easy to find at Kroger but you could use regular brown sugar or could try Splenda brown sugar blend-this will change the calories and macros of the drink. To make the simple syrup you will need 2 parts almost boiling water to 1 part brown “sugar”. I used 1/2 cup water 1/4 cup swerve packed brown “sugar”. That will make enough for a few drinks. Mix together in a mason jar and place in the fridge.
✅ Next you’ll need to brew or make your strong coffee or espresso. You can do whatever you want but I used instant coffee and mixed hot water to make a very concentrated coffee solution and then chilled. You want about 3-4.5oz coffee or espresso. If you use regular cold brew you will want to add more coffee but it will change the texture of the drink slightly.
Now let’s make the drank 🙌
✅ fill a mason jar or shaker half way with crushed ice.
✅ Add 2T simple syrup and the coffee/espresso to that jar. Place lid on and shake vigorously to combine.
✅ Add a few shakes of cinnamon and 1/2 cup oat milk to the top. Swirl or stir to combine.
✅ Enjoy
